Two Lemoyne College students were robbed at gunpoint at a bus stop Monday morning, the Post-Standard reported.

The women were waiting for the bus at 11:45 a.m. at the corner of Audubon Parkway and Fayette Boulevard in Syracuse when they were approached by two males. One of them displayed what appeared to be a black handgun, police said.

CNYCentral News reported the suspects took the students' purses and ran off towards Briarcliffe Estate Apartments.

The suspects were described as black males in their mid-teens with a thin build, police told the Post-Standard. They were reportedly wearing dark clothes, including hooded sweatshirts pulled up tight around their faces. One suspect had a black and white bandana covering his nose and lower face, the other suspect, with the pistol was wearing glasses, police said.

Police Sgt. Thomas Connellan told the Post-Standard the victims were not injured during the robbery.

Police said a similar robbery took place last week at 4:40 p.m. in the same area near LeMoyne College. One student was walking to his vehicle from LeMoyne Plaza when three men pushed him against his vehicle, knocking his head into the car door. They stole a leather shoulder bag containing an Apple iPad and five textbooks. No weapons were used in this robbery

Police do not know if the suspects are the same.

The Post-Standard reported that the college's officials sent an email reassuring students and staff that they are working with police and are doing what they can to keep members of the college community safe.

According to the college's email, police presence will be more prevalent. The Syracuse Police Department has assigned additional officers to patrol the streets near LeMoyne Plaza. A city police officer also will be at the plaza from noon to 6 p.m., according to the college's email,
