Drew Barrymore will be a mom-turned zombie in the forthcoming Netflix original series "Santa Clarita Diet." Together with actor Timothy Olyphant, Barrymore will become a vigilante in their community gnawing criminals. The new horror-comedy will be aired at Netflix on Feb. 8.

The Netflix original series revolves around a husband and wife realtor team, Joel and Sheila Hammond, whose suburban lives are upended after Sheila seemingly dies and wakes up without a heartbeat, Rolling Stones reported. Shiela's new status as an undead person gives her the craving and appetite for raw human meat.

Her husband Joel is left to help her satiate her hunger since Sheila has developed inability in controlling her hunger. The family forces to do drastic measures by deciding to feed Sheila with criminals in their community. It is picking up from the "Dexter's" playbook where it only kills people who deserve it.

Despite the unusual concept, Barrymore believes in the optimism of the show specifically that it does not lack sweetness between the Hammonds. Barrymore, who had recently divorced Will Kopelman even teased that she does not want to watch a show about a couple fighting and falling apart, NME has learned. She is determined that the show will be a perfect recipe for 2017.

"Santa Clarita Diet" is created by Victor Fresco who also did "Better Off Ted" and "Andy Richter Controls the Universe." Fans are now exhilarated for Netflix's new show because aside from being an original series, the network is also renowned for dishing out shows to untraditional network audience.

The 13-part horror-comedy includes "Desperate Housewive's" Ricardo Antoni Chavira, Richard T. Jones of "Why Did I Get Married?" and "It's Always Sunny in Philadephia" Mary Elizabeth Ellis. "Santa Clarita Diet" also stars Liv Hewson, Skyler Gisondo and Nathan Fillion. It will will be produced by Nancy Juvonen.
