"Limitless" Executive Producer Craig Sweeny took to Twitter to announce that there will be no second season for the series, apparently due to plunging ratings. Craig, meanwhile, teases that "Limitless Season 2" could have been very exciting, especially after the events in season 1's finale.

Petition Not getting the Show Anywhere

Sweeny announced the cancellation of "Limitless Season 2" a few days after CBS president Glenn Geller said that producers were looking for a home where the second season of the film reboot would air, Hollywood Reporter reported. CBS Television Studios tried to bring the series to Netflix and Amazon, but both these streaming services didn't agree to house the second season of the series.

Limitless debuted with high ratings and brought its fans a roller coaster ride for its season one. However, as the show progressed, its ratings slowly dropped. The show had a 2.4 rating among the 18 to 48 year old demography. However, its live-plus-same-day ratings were not impressive with only an average of 1.4.

It lags behind "NCIS" with 2.2 and "NCIS: New Orleans" with 1.8. With this rating, all NCIS shows will be back for their new seasons.

What season 2 Would be About

Meanwhile, Sweeny teased some of the plots that could have happened in "Limitless Season 2" picking up after the events in Season One where lead protagonist Brian revealing his NZT use to the FBI, Cinemablend reported. His super brain capacity has become very important to the FBI, especially when it comes to solving crimes. However, now that the FBI knows about his secret, the story will go on a different and more exciting direction.

Though the story will be headed to a different direction, Sweeny said the core of the show that made it so exciting will remain. This only means that Sweeny already has a solid plan on how season two will go. For now, fans can only pray, hope and watch the final episode "Finale: Part Two!"
