Honda-Waymo Self-Driving Cars are close to becoming a reality as Honda and Waymo, Google's newly independent self-driving car effort, are nearing a formal agreement. They are finding out ways on how to put Google's sensors and software into the vehicles of Honda.

The idea, according to Wired, would match the weaknesses of the two well-renowned companies. Google can make a good autonomous driving system but does not know much about making automobiles while Honda makes millions of cars every year but has little knowledge on the autonomous side. When they combine their expertise, the result will be Honda-Waymo Self-Driving Cars and it will definitely be a car enthusiast's dream come true.

Honda, according to The Guardian, did say that any collaboration with Waymo for Honda-Waymo Self-Driving Cars would not eliminate their attempts at developing their own autonomous driving system as they have attempted several times to make their own. They did manage to unveil a prototype driverless car in June and they expect to launch a fully autonomous one in four years.

If a deal is reached between the companies for Honda-Waymo Self-Driving Cars then the plan is for Honda engineers in Japan and Silicon Valley to work with Waymo so they could figure out how to put Waymo's software in the vehicles. It is expected to be done the same way Fiat Chrysler did with its Pacifica vans. It is certainly easier said than done as it will take months or even years of hard work from the engineers of both companies.

Google with make itself the forefront of self-driving technology if its deal with Honda for the Honday-Waymo Self-Driving Cars pushes through. Google has been developing sensors and software since 2009 and testing its cars on public highways for many years.
