A Japanese tech brand has found a way to make your smart phone smell like your favorite food every time you get a notification, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Scentee has created a device that attaches to your smartphone and releases a small spray of fragrance each time you get an alert.

"This is the world's first product that alerts users by scent when they get likes on Facebook," Koki Tsubouchi said in a statement.

The white, round, plug-in accessory fits into the headphone socket of a smartphone. It works with a complementary app that tells it to spray a burst of fragrance into the air when you receive a message, email or Facebook like. The scent app programs the bubble device to go off when you receive a social network notification, text or alarm.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the device can be synced to multiple games. The device's LED lights also light up with each notification. The device only comes in one color, white and comes with a micro USb cable.

The device cost about $37 and can be used on any iPhone, starting with the iPhone 4s, and iPads. The only Android that is currently compatible with Scentee is the Galaxy 4. Each scent cartridge can deliver 100 bursts with refills available for $5.

Available scents include strawberry, coffee, mint and cinnamon roll. Also available is a limited-edition Korean BBQ collection that includes two meat scents and baked potato, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Other scents are also in the works. According to Engadget, some of the scents currently being developed are bacon and more fruit smells.

The Scentee device can also be used as a simple air freshener, release scents while playing certain games, and send scents along with text messages, The Mirror reported.

The Scentee is to launch on Amazon Japan on Nov. 15.  There is no word yet when the scent device will be available in the United States.
