"Transparent" star Amy Landecker was cast to play a small scene in Marvel's "Doctor Strange." However, many viewers did not catch a glimpse of the blue-eyed actress even though her name appears in the credits.

Landecker first auditioned for a small part and she was selected to play a minor role in the movie. The actress was told that she will be playing a doctor assisting Dr. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) in the operating room.

Marvel is very strict about their non-disclosure agreements, holding back major information and giving only what is needed. Landecker had no idea of how many scenes she was going to have or lines she was going to say.

Suffice to say, she did shoot some scenes with Cumberbatch and spoke a few lines as the anesthesiologist. Then she received a call from the production team saying her scenes were edited out.

The "Transparent" star recently sat down with the A.V. Club for an interview in their segment Random Roles. Landecker narrated her hilarious Marvel experience and the reason why she was cast at all.

It turned out that "Doctor Strange" director Scott Derrickson is a big fan of the Coen brothers' "A Serious Man." Since Michael Stuhlbarg is part of the cast playing Dr. Nicodemus West, Derrickson wanted to bring in Landecker for a mini-reunion.

Stuhlbarg and Landecker were co-stars in the aforementioned movie, which was released in 2009. Landecker thought that Marvel could easily hire a local for her role. However, she was especially handpicked so that the two co-stars can have a reunion in "Doctor Strange" as reported in Slash Film.

Landecker also remarked that her other scenes without any speaking lines were completed through a stand-in, which was possible since the actress was wearing a mask and a surgical cap the entire time. On the day of the shoot, "Transparent" was having a premiere at the White House so Marvel graciously allowed her to leave.

Having her scenes with speaking lines edited out and only a stand-in for her blue eyes, the only visible part of her body, explain why viewers did not see Landecker but only her name in the credits. Nonetheless, the actress is happy to be part of a Marvel movie even if she is not visibly in it.
