Square Enix announced the delay of their upcoming smartphone Final Fantasy game. "Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia" will now be released in the early months of 2017 in Japan for iOS and Android, after initially expected to be released this year.

One of the major reasons for the delay is the fixing of bugs in the smartphone game, Siliconera reported. To make up for the announcement about the delay, Square Enix confirmed that there will be new exciting characters that will join the Dissidia world.

Some of the expected characters are "Final Fantasy V's" Galuf Halm Baldesion and Faris Scherwiz and "Final Fantasy IX's" Eiko. "Final Fantasy VII" and Final Fantasy XI characters such as Squall and Shantotto are also going to be included. Even the characters of "Final Fantasy XIII" and "Final Fantasy Type-0" Vanille and Ace respectively are going to appear, Gematsu reported.

Besides these familiar and nostalgic characters, Square Enix also teased more characters in the form of silhouettes. Based on the figure of the silhouette, one of these characters could Balthier from "Final Fantasy XII."

Avid fans can also make out the silhouettes of "Final Fantasy VI" Setzer Gabbiani and "Final Fantasy XI" Prishe. Even Snow from "Final Fantasy XIII" and the character Cloud of Darkness from "Final Fantasy III" can be seen. Moreover, "Final Fantasy X" Tidus and "Final Fantasy XIII" Lightning, and even "Final Fantasy Tactics" Ramza will be there for avid fans too.

However, the most exciting character to look forward to is the winged angel Sepiroth from "Final Fantasy VII". One teaser trailer shows that this character seems very powerful with abilities to catch enemies in a barrage of sword slashes.

For the uninitiated, the smartphone arcade game is a 3 vs. 3 battle system. It includes summons gauge, where players can summon their favorite Final Fantasy summons. Team Ninja from KOEI Tecmo developed this game.

This game was first launched in Japan in November 2015. "Dissidia Final Fantasy" was originally released by Square Enix for PlayStation Portable as a fighting game back in 2008 in Japan. Then, the company released a sequel called Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy for PSP in 2011.
