Gadget freaks, rejoice! Microsoft is slated to unveil a bevy of brand new hardware and software products during a big event next month. The Redmond-based tech firm is also likely to take the wraps off it's highly anticipated second-generation Surface Book during this event.

The first version of the aforesaid convertible laptop was launched in October 2015. Tech gurus and optimistic gadget buffs now believe that this year's version will be unveiled in the same month if Microsoft sticks to its release pattern. But apparently, not everyone seems to reckon on this theory.

In the wake of no such official confirmation coming from the device maker, its relatively safe to assume that the Surface Book 2 will not be launched right away as Microsoft is still waiting for Intel's Kaby Lake processor. In other words, if the processor is not dished out this year, the Microsoft Surface Book 2 release date could be pushed back to next year or until Intel hands out the said processor, ChristianToday reported.

Another reason why the hybrid will not hit the store shelves soon after it is announced is because Microsoft has yet to confirm as to when the important Redstone 2 update for Windows 10 OS will be rolled out. That being said, it seems safe to hazard a guess that it will make an appearance sometime in the spring of 2017. Basically, if the second most significant update of Windows 10 is to be referenced, it's nearly impossible that the Surface Book 2 will be released this year.

Microsoft Surface Book 2 Specs & Features

There's hearsay that the purported laptop/tablet hybrid will sport a mammoth 13.5-inch screen with a couple of processor options i.e. Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7, with the former said to come with a slightly lower price than the latter, according to VineReport.

Bearing in mind that Microsoft is marketing the device as a full-fledged laptop rather than just a tablet, an 8GB of RAM could be in the offing. The other variant will probably get 16GB of RAM. Furthermore, there could be one 1TB option. With the debut of 4K resolution in mobile devices as well as laptops, this one is likely to boast 4K video and 3-D display features.
