Some people might have a particular opinion of backups as a necessity where in the event something goes wrong, in which a person can restore their files. But, unless their backup is secure, hackers could try and access their backup files to steal important information.

For the latest iOS release of Apple Inc. appears to have accidentally decreased the security of the iPhone, in which it can allow unauthorized access to localized backups, according to Forbes.

Elcomsoft software company has created tools to breach into iPhones, as they worked to update its phone breaker tool, they found out the vulnerability. They discovered that backups saved after a user updates to iOS 10, then uses a new password verification mechanism that avoids several security checks, Elcomsoft reported.

Elcomsoft software company has pitched in some semi good news, that unless the hacker has direct access to a person's mobile phone, it would be impossible for the hacker to access the backups. But, hopefully this is something the tech giant Apple will be able to address, based on the report of Ubergizmo.

However, the Cupertino based tech company is aware of the problem and they are working to fix the issue.

An Apple spokesperson stated that they are aware of a problem that affects the encryption strength for backups of devices on iOS 10 when backing up to iTunes on the PC or even on Mac. The tech company is addressing the issue in a forthcoming security update. But, the issue does not affect iCloud backups.

The Apple spokesperson also stated that they recommend users to ensure that their Mac or PC are protected with strong passwords, and can only be accessed by authorized persons.

Nevertheless, Vladimir Katalov, CEO of Elcomsoft, put forward for consideration that the only way the tech company can fix the situation is by updating iTunes as well as the iOS.
