Following Apple's recent iPhone 7 launch on Wednesday, September 7, rumors are rife about the Cupertino-based tech firm gearing up to take the wraps off its highly-anticipated MacBook Pro 2016.

Gadget freaks all over the world have been waiting with bated breath for Apple to shed some light on the MacBook Pro 2016 release date and it looks like this could be just the right time to look forward to some major revelations.

Currently, the MacBook Pro is up for grabs in two sizes: a 13-inch model, which was updated in March last year, and a 15-inch model that received an update in May last year.

Zealous Mac fans were hopeful that the new MacBook Pro models will be unveiled on March 21 at Apple's spring event, however, the event turned out to be a huge disappointed for them as the tech firm did not even mention Macs and the same goes for this year's WWDC and the most recent iPhone 7 event. The question remains when is the new MacBook Pro 2016 coming out? Here's what we know.

MacBook Pro 2016 Release Date

The recently concluded Apple event turned out to be a disappointment for Mac fans that have been waiting with bated breath for the much-awaited laptop's unveiling.

It's been way over a year since the laptop last received any sort of update and it's no secret that several consumers are waiting for it. According to MacWorld, the MacBook Pro is likely to make an appearance sometime in October, alongside an impending iPad. The publication cites lack of a MacOS Sierra release date, which the website speculates will be announced along with the MacBook Pro at a special event.

Other Macs in Apple's line-up have already received updates this year. The company unveiled its new 12-inch MacBook 2016 with a simple press release, and the MacBook Air received a minor update as well. This just leaves the Pro.

That being said, there is still a possibility that Apple could announce the new MacBook Pro in 2016; however a Q4 announcement and launch date is more likely. The device will be announced either at a single event or via a quite update during the week like we saw in April this year for the latest MacBook.

Leaked Apple Trademarks

While rumor mills continue to churn a slew of speculations around the release date, spec and features for the purported MacBook Pro 2016, a brand new leak showing off a long list of products and features Apple might be currently working on has surfaced online.

The guy who first published details on the Death Trooper that is slated to appear in Rogue One, and who discovered the Cursed Child and Harry Potter trademark, renowned trademark attorney, Brian Conroy tracked a slew of Apple trademarks and shared them with Apple Insider.

Conroy hunted down a series of trademarks related to current Apple products or products that are slated to hit the store shelves in near future. Among them, we have macOS Sierra, macOS, Siri, iMessage, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPad, Pencil, True Tone Display, and Apple Handoff.

According to Conroy, the tech firm applies for trademarks in remote places in a bid to keep its upcoming products under wraps. Usually just about four days before the six months period runs out, the company apply globally.

The aforementioned six-month period alludes to the "six months seniority" period. In case it expires and the company has not used it, the trademark is released.

While trademarks for Remote Loop, Care card, Insight Dashboard, Progress Card, Swift Lab and Trade Up all expire in September, macOS Sierra application is slated to expire October along with Touch Bar and variants of Smart Button.
