Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Microsoft Surface Book 2 are reportedly in the works but Microsoft has not confirmed or denied its development. However, this has not stopped rumors on the specs of the devices from spreading.

Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is expected to feature either Intel's sixth or seventh generation Kaby Lake processor, a USB Type-C port and a new and improved battery. Rumors surfaced that the high end Microsoft Surface Pro 5 tablet that is a laptop hybrid will carry a 2K screen. However, a version that could support 4K graphics will also be available.

The memory capacity of Microsoft Surface Pro 5 is said to be upgradable up to 16GB of RAM, Tech Times reported. Other components of the device can also be upgraded such as the camera, Wifi, Bluetooth and the Surface Pen. The Microsoft Surface Pen is suggested to have a rechargeable battery that could be charged wirelessly.

Meanwhile, Microsoft Surface Book 2 is also suggested to equip the seventh generation Kaby Lake processor and will support 3D and 4K as well as VR displays, The Christian Times reported. The device will also sport 16GB of RAM with up to 1TB of internal storage capacity, reportedly. Microsoft Surface Book 2 is also expected to support a USB Type-C port connectors and ThunderBolt 3 ports.

News about Microsoft's plans for the Microsoft Surface Pro and Microsoft Surface Book lines was intensified when the developer named Shubhan Chemburkar posted a photo of a wall from Microsoft's building 88. The photo depicted a Surface placeholder with labels 2016 and coming soon. Three other devices that has 2017 labels on them were also revealed.

Microsoft Surface devices are rumored to be released alongside Windows 10 Redstone 2 operating system. Speculations also arise that the Surface devices might be deployed around the same time as Windows 10's second major update in Spring 2017. Both devices are expected to sell at $900 to $1500.
