Avid 'iPhone" fanatics, rejoice! According to renowned tipster, Evan Blass, Apple is all set to start pre-orders for its much-awaited iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices on September 9.

Not too long ago, Blass stirred conversations among iPhone fans when he suggested that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be unveiled sometime in the week of September 12. Soon after his initial claim, Blass divulged that Apple's flagship model will hit the store shelves on September 16, according to 9To5Mac.

An acclaimed industry blogger and mobile phone tipster, Blass took to his Twitter account Thursday, July 28 to divulge the date pre-orders start, but he asked fans to figure out the launch event date themselves based on this revelation. He has a reputation for leaking photos and details about upcoming smartphones well before an official announcement from the company.

Prior to leaking the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus release date, Blass indicated the codenames for the purported handsets are "Sonora" and "Dos Palos," MacRumors reported.

If Blass' forecast proved to be true, the Cupertino-based tech firm will announce the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in the first week of September, following its tradition of unveiling the latest iPhone a couple of day before pre-orders start.

Last year, Apple announced the iPhone 6S on September 9, started taking pre-orders on September 12 and the phone hit the store shelves on September 25.

The iPhone 7 is expected to retain the same design as its predecessors, except for some minor changes and enhancements. For instance, the antenna lines on the rear side of the handset will swap places and the phone is believed to be dust and water resistant.

In addition, Apple has decided to do away with the 3.5 mm audio jack in a bid to pave the way for a speaker setup at the bottom. Users will still be able to use the Lightning connector to plug in their headphones as well as other devices to the handset.

Both iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models are rumored to receive a camera upgrade and the larger variant will boast a dual lens camera for enhanced performance.
