While rumor mills have continued to swirl a slew of speculations around the purported Samsung Galaxy Note 6, if the recent reports proved to be true, Galaxy fans are in for a huge disappointment.

Samsung's upcoming Note offering will not pack Snapdragon 823, as several reports hinted earlier. The purported smartphone will feature a Snapdragon 820 instead - the same chipset that powers Galaxy S7 - which apparently is the best phone hardware money, can buy.

Snapdragon 820 is definitely not sluggish, however for a device being unveiled about six months after the Galaxy S7, there are thin chances the demand for more can be met in the chipset, HNGN reported.

Just a few days after the Samsung Galaxy Note 6/7 was spotted on AnTuTu, the purported device made an appearance on Geekbench. The benchmarking site posted scores and features of the imminent smartphone, with the model name SM-N930V. GSM Arena speculates this could be Verizon variant. The report also divulged a slew of features such as a QHD screen, 13-megapixel camera, and 4 GB RAM. Samsung Galaxy S7 sported nearly same specs and was well-received by avid smartphone users.

The Galaxy S7 smartphone is also accredited to a hike in sales.

Samsung recently revealed its second-quarter operating profit moved up by 17.4 percent as compared to a year earlier. The South Korean tech firm reported April-June profit of a whopping 8.1 trillion won, clearly more than 7.8 trillion predicted by Reuters.

Rumor mills indicate Samsung has come up with an array of marketing tactics to improve sales, one of the tactics include launching its devices well ahead of Apple, the company's Cupertino-based tech rival. The good news is that Note's marketing is expected to benefit from these tactics; such as omitting '6' and dubbing the phablet 'Note 7' in a bid to bring it in line with Galaxy devices.

But, not making an offer with considerable difference may not turn out to be advantageous for the popular South Korean smartphone maker.

There's more setback in terms of specs as the phablet could launch less RAM than 6 GB, contrary to earlier speculations. In terms of setting the device apart from the already hit Galaxy S7, Note's curved Edge display could be the only saving grace on the looming device.
