Penn State opened its new $7.2 million academic center for Student Athletes.

Penn State aims to bring all its student-athletes under one academic roof. So, the Penn State constructed the Morgan Academic Center for Student-Athletes. The building is located in the former site of the school's old ice hockey arena, Greenberg Ice Pavilion. This 7.2 million project would benefit 800 athletes of Penn State, 24/7 Sports reported.

After two years of design and construction, Penn State opened The Morgan Academic Center for Student -Athletes this June. This will provide all services of all the athletes of the school. Formerly, the facilities were divided into four, but now it's under one establishment.

The site, with more than 30,000 square feet in terms of space, will hold classrooms, studios, meeting rooms, etc. to all athletes of the college. Also, supports such as advisers, tutors anf sports psychologist will be available for the student-athletes.

The Morgan Academic Center for Student-Athletes is vital to keep the academic performance of the State College's athletes in a high level.

The building now hosts the four separate academic facilities for the athletes. The former buildings are East Area Locker Room, Bank of America Career Services building, Lasch Football Building, and the Rec Hall.

The Morgan Academic Center for Student-Athletes was designed by Hoffman Leakey Architects which is from Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. The construction who executed the plans was the PJ Dick from Pittsburgh. They gutted the features inside the former ice hockey arena, Greenberg, and made a two story academic center. The location is in the corner of McKean Road and Hastings Road on the University Park, Penn State News reported.

The former building was home to the Penn State Icers and the Nittany Lion's varsity programs. The facilities were now moved into the Pegula Ice Arena.

The Morgan Academic Center for Student Athletes was completed late May and turned over mid-June. The academic center will render its services to the schools athletes in the August class opening.
