The University of Washington has recently named Jennifer Cohen to spearhead the directorate position of the athletics department of the Huskies.

Cohen's induction as the athletics director was made public last Tuesday by the university president Ana Mari Cauce, The Seattle Times reported. 

The appointment of Cohen marks a new beginning for the university as she will become the first female athletic director for the Pac-12 Conference and just one of the three in the ranked 65 Power Five universities.

The Tacoma native however is not an outsider in the Huskies sports history as she has been involved with the university for the past 18 years, mostly running the baseball and football time table and has made a dent by concentrating on financial fundraising programs for athletes.

Cohen is also an instant shoo-in for the position as she held an ad hoc arrangement as being the director with the Huskies athletics department since the start of the year. Prior to interim rank, the UW Huskies was led by Scott Woodward who abruptly jump shipped to Texas A&M for the same appointment.

Numerous major UW patrons along with Huskies football coach Chris Petersen have been vocal on their support for Cohen as the preeminent individual to tackle the prestigious position.

In her press release, Cohen revealed that she was humbled, honored, and extremely thankful for the given break as the university has not just been a fragment of her existence for the past 18 years, My North West reported. 

She also added that she looks for a brighter future in the department - as working hand in hand will bring out a constructive influence on the student body in order to  further promote a winning sports culture as well as a coming together with the community.

Cohen ended her statement by saying that she is ecstatic for the coming 1^st day of June.
