The recent findings released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) show that buttock implants have become more popular than before among the U.S. public, Lighthouse News Daily reports.

The 2015 report identifies trends and patterns regarding the most frequently chosen cosmetic procedures nowadays.

The report shows that in 2015, compared to the year before, there has been an increase of 2% in the number of minimally invasive cosmetic procedures and isolated cosmetic surgeries.

"While more traditional facial procedures and breast augmentations are still among the most popular, we're seeing much more diversity in the areas of the body patients are choosing to address," said ASPS president David Song, according to Indian Express.

In 2014, the volume of such interventions reached 15.9 million.

The most widely sought cosmetic surgeries are silicone and saline breast implants, liposuctions, rhinoplasties (nose jobs), blepharoplasties (eye lifts) and abdominoplasties (tummy tucks).

Among the minimally invasive cosmetic surgeries, the most popular are were Botox injections, dermal fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and laser hair removal.

The report showed that the number of individuals opting for buttock augmentations has increased from 1,356 in 2000, to 4,767 in 2015, increasing by a margin of 252%.

In fact, surgeries aimed at improving the size, shape or perkiness of the buttocks have had the most significant increase among all the cosmetic procedures across the United States. Last year, 14,705 people got fat transfers in order to augment their bottoms, 4,767 chose a butt lift, and 2,540 got buttock implants.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has nicknamed 2015 "the year of the rear" for buttock implants or lifts being performed at record-breaking rates, but also because of the emphasis placed on celebrities with disproportionately large and perfectly round bottoms.

The rate of people undergoing buttock lifts rose 252 percent between 2000 and 2015 -- from 1,356 to 4,767 procedures, according to philly.

As explained by Dr. David H. Song, who was recently appointed as president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the largest number of people still chose the commonplace cosmetic procedures, such as breast augmentations, lipos and cosmetic interventions.

Also, demand for less traditional cosmetic surgeries has increased because of a wider variety of procedures that people can choose from and also because patients are growing more aware of what they wish to correct about their faces and their bodies.
