Hillary Clinton's fee for an upcoming talk at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in October has sparked uproar among students.

Writing a letter to Hillary Clinton's family foundation, the campus community urged the former Secretary of State to either speak for free or donate all or part of the $225,000 fee back to students.

"You could give scholarships to thousands of students, benefit research on campus, give more students grants for research and studying," said Daniel Waqar, Student Relations Director for the UNLV Student Government, Ralston Reports.

Waqar said that the tuition has been increased by 17 percent and went up by a hundred percent over the past decade. Students will benefit from scholarships created from the fee.

The UNLV Foundation Annual Dinner on October 13 is a philanthropic event that honors individuals and organizations who have promoted UNLV's mission through their generous contribution, according to the event description.

The 2014 keynote will be delivered by Former First Lady - Hillary Rodham Clinton. The speaking fee will be reportedly paid directly to the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation. It will be financed by the UNLV foundation, abc reports.

Defending Hillary Clinton, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said that the "soon-to-be-grandmother" is not accepting any kind of speaking fee for a Clean Energy Summit, which is to be held in September.

This will not be the first time that Clinton will receive a huge amount for a speech. She was given $300,000 for a speech at UCLA in March, Wall Street Journal reports.
