In Google's attempt to secure itself as a major smartphone player, the search engine giant has some big things planned for its upcoming smartphone, the Google Pixel 2. The next-gen Pixel smartphones are said to roll out in October 2017 and the device will carry a higher price tag compared to the previous-gen Pixel smartphones.

The Google Pixel 2 smartphones are anticipated to come along with an upgraded camera and chipset, which could justify the lofty price of the devices. A variant of the Google Pixel 2 smartphones is said to arrive with a 5.5-inch Quad HD display along with a 2560 x 1440 resolution, Know Your Mobile reported.

Google will reportedly add a waterproofing capability to the highly anticipated Pixel 2 handsets. The tech giant had to drop the water and dust resistance capabilities from the current Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones for the reason of time constraints. Reports are claiming that Google might ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack in the Pixel 2 smartphones. Nevertheless, the Google Pixel 2 smartphones would feature a curved display similar to Samsung's Galaxy S8.

Tech fans and experts are anticipating that the search engine titan will significantly improve the camera specs of the next-gen Pixel 2. But, some reports are suggesting that Google Pixel 2 would be up for grabs with a 16MP dual shooter on the back and an 8MP front snapper, Value Walk reported.

Furthermore, the Google Pixel 2 smartphones will be available with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, a 6GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. The Google Pixel 2 will also arrive with thrilling features like Pixel Launcher, Daydream VR and Google Assistant. Google's next-gen Pixel handsets would cost around $699.

That being the case, Google is yet to make an official announcement about the Pixel 2 smartphones. But, the Google Pixel 2 smartphones will expand the Pixel smartphone series and will establish Google as another mobile manufacturer to compete with Apple and Samsung.
