Trading Pokemon is Coming Soon but Niantic Killed off Local ‘Pokemon GO’ Players’ Dreams

By

Niantic has hinted about the coming of another "Pokemon GO" feature called Pokemon Trading; however, reports suggest that the company has designed the feature locally and not international which means no internet is involved.

Niantic Reveals On-going Development on Trading Pokemon Feature

Trading Pokemon in "Pokemon GO" is reportedly number one on the player's top wish list for the augmented reality game. And Niantic has revealed a little bit of information about the feature during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, BGR reported.

The Senior Product Manager of Niantic Tatsuo Nomura reveals that the team is currently looking on many different angles on how to incorporate Trading Pokemon in the game. He even told the press and media that if Niantic failed to deliver the player's expectation about the new feature, "Pokemon GO" will slowly die in vain.

Nomura also share tidbits of information about how the feature will work. According to him, one thing is for sure, unlike everyone's expectation, trading won't be through the internet but will be done locally which means players should trade Pokemons to players who are in their vicinity, IGN reported.

For this reason, avid "Pokemon GO" players are reportedly disappointed on the information shared by Nomura about the trading feature. But for Nomura and Niantic as a whole, the concept of the feature suggests a more interactive way of meeting new players around the vicinity and exchange exciting items as well as pocket monsters.

Going through Nomura's statements, netizens speculate that Trading Pokemon feature might be on its way and is possibly made available on the later months of 2017. Meanwhile, players are advice to wait for the formal announcement and continue playing "Pokemon GO" until the feature rolls out.

"Pokemon GO" is an augmented reality game released in July 2016 and considered as worldwide mobile phenomenon when number of downloads reach to 500 million to 650 million in less than a year. The game's popularity has reportedly went down when Niantic failed to deliver some of the promised features such as Players versus Players and Trading.
