Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment Denies ‘The Division’ Team Making James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Game

Earlier reports indicated that Massive Entertainment's "The Division" team would be working on a game based on James Cameron's "Avatar."

Ubisoft announced the blockbuster collaboration with the Hollywood filmmaker casting a shadow over "The Division's" future. "Avatar," no doubt will be big, high profile and expensive. The dilemma is how Massive Entertainment will handle such a big project while maintaining "The Division?"

Moreover, live online games require live operation teams, constantly updating, developing and tweaking a game. Additionally, games like this are huge projects, according to Eurogamer.

Allaying all doubts, Ubisoft clarified the issue stating that "The Division" team is not going anywhere to develop "Avatar" and maintain "The Division" game at the same time. Instead, Massive Entertainment will form a new team to work on the "Avatar" game.

Ubisoft added Massive Entertainment is in the process of recruiting top talent to work on "Avatar." Moreover, the company stated that "Avatar's" development should have no impact on "The Division" team or its plan of continuous support and update of the game and brand for the long-term, according to Kotaku.

.After the announcement, "The Division" received a huge update. The third and final expansion expected in year one's roadmap and Season Pass. Ubisoft intends to have multiple studios working together on huge games.

Reportedly, the team to be created would likely use Massive Entertainment's Snowdrop game engine, to bring beauty and danger of life on Pandora.

As stated, "Avatar" will be a new game and not a rehashed version of an earlier game developed by Ubisoft Montreal back in 2009 when it first worked with Cameron, as the movie was leaving the theaters. However, the game was a bit disappointing.

With the game, yet to be developed, it has no specific title yet or details about gameplay, no plot details or storyline is available. Rest assured once new details arrive, it shall be reported here.
