Mitt Romney Approves Donald Trump’s Choice For Education Secretary, Betsy DeVos

By

Recently, Mitt Romney, a Republican and the former governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007, said that Betsy DeVos is capable of being the next secretary of Education and leading the education system of the United States of America.

Mitt Romney was excited that someone like Betsy Devos who has the capability, dedication and absence of financial bias is going to take a look at the state of the education system in American schools. He believes that she can make positive changes.

The former Republican nominee for president said that Betsy DeVos will need a fresh set of eyes to look at the education establishment, instead of applying the same old techniques, as reported by The Salt Lake Tribune. He hopes that the defenders of the system will work with her.

When President-elect Donald Trump tapped Betsy DeVos to serve as the next Department of Education secretary, back in November, there were a lot of questions raised regarding his choice. His nominee was deemed as a controversial decision by the education community, as reported by CNN.

DeVos is a supporter of charter schools and school voucher programs. She is also known to have opposed Common Core. These are factors that teachers unions oppose but are praised by supporters of school choice.

While there are those that opposed Donald Trump's choice, Mitt Romney stands by Trump's decision. Romney voiced support for her effort to challenge the status quo. Romney describes Betsy Devos as a highly successful entrepreneur and has the best interest of the nation's children.

In 2016, DeVos initially donated to Jeb Bush and Carly Fiorina before supporting Marco Rubio. In March 2016, she called Donald Trump an interloper and said that he does not represent the Republican Party. In November, she was nominated by Trump to be the next United States Secretary of Education. DeVos felt honored to work with him and make America great again
