CES 2017

The 2017 Consumer Electronic Show will be held in Las Vegas on January 5 to 7. This event is celebrating its 50th year anniversary of giving legs up to tech companies, making it the perfect venue for Qualcomm. The tech company is expected to reveal more details on its Snapdragon 835 processor during the CES 2017, Android Authority reported. Besides Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor, CES 2017 will also feature exciting new technology including LG's floating speaker, Samsung's new "TV Plus" update, electric cars, and more.

Snapdragon 835

So far, some of the official information about the Snapdragon 835 processor is that it was developed using the 10nm FinFET processor technology of the South Korean tech giant Samsung, Droid Life reported. This is good news because smaller processors could mean bigger batteries or thinner phones. It is also reported that the new Snapdragon 835 processor will bring in increased performance to the table, as well as better power efficiency compared to its predecessors.

There are reports that the new Snapdragon 835 processor will also support Samsung's Quick Charge 4 technology, which gives the smartphone five hours of battery life in just five minutes worth of charging time. There are rumors that Qualcomm's latest processor will have an octa-core design sporting a clock speed of 2.2GHz. It can also be expected that its Adreno 540 GPU will be 30 percent faster compared to the present Adreno 530 chip. However, these are just benchmarking results and must be treated with a grain of salt.

There are unconfirmed speculations that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be the first smartphone to have the Snapdragon 835 processor. According to rumors, that particular smartphone will be revealed in April 2017.
