Huawei Mate 9 US Release, Unlocked Version: Direct Competitor for Pixel, Galaxy S7 Edge Coming in January

By

Huawei Mate 9 will be available for American consumers in January and the internal specifications offer a blazing fast processor that will compete head to head with either Galaxy S7 Edge or Google Pixel.

Huawei Mate 9 US Release Date

Previous reports suggest that Huawei Mate 9 will be arriving at US on Jan. 6. According to 9to5Google, the notorious tipster Evan Blass tweeted the good news on Dec. 9 - stating that the said handset will go on sale in the US next year.

Huawei Mate 9 Internal Specs

Mate 9 is a 5.9-inch high-end smartphone, powered by Kirin 960 chipset. It runs Android Nougat under EMUI 5.0 custom skin. The battery packs 4,000 mAh capacity and it pairs 64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM. In addition to the impressive specs, the optic offers Leica's 20 MP (dual lens) rear shooter with 12 MP front shooter. On paper, Mate 9 packs a punch with the huge RAM, battery and decent SoC performance.

There are, however, a few drawbacks of the device. For instance, Huawei Mate 9 is not IP 68 certified and there is no glass protection for its panel. The smartphone isn't compatible with VR technology, either.

Huawei Mate 9 US Price

There is no word about the pricing but Mate 9 is speculated to be sold at $750 pricepoint. This makes the device's price comparable to Google Pixel and Galaxy S7 Edge. In terms of hardware, Huawei's flagship packs incredible tech specifications that may be able to add an alternative to the premium phone category.

It is reported that there will only be unlocked version of Mate 9 distributed in the US as Huawei has always had a hard time partnering up with mobile phone carriers, ChannelNews reported.
