Xiaomi is currently opening registration for Nougat beta program testers. The Apple of China will rollout Android 7.0 Nougat to Mi 5 and will allow the devices to have the latest firmware running on Xiaomi's custom interface MIUI 8, Droid Review reported.
For Chinese users, the update in Mi 5 ROM version requires application via PC at MIUI official page.
It is highly recommended that the beta testers have actively joined Xiaomi MIUI forums as they may require to have some knowledge in the installation process. The registration also requires testers to discuss the Nougat experience on their devices in QQ App.
MIUI 8 will not only bring new interface but also more improvements on the Mi 5 battery life and performance.
As for the firmware update, once beta-testing is done and the Nougat officially rollouts to Mi 5, the phone will get features such as split-screen mode, new notification orders and more, as reported by Android Headlines.
Mi Max and Redmi 3S Prime Currently Tested for MIUI 8
Xiaomi also opens applications for MIUI 8 testers specifically for Mi Max and Redmi 3S Prime owners. It seems to indicate that both devices will be getting the latest interface soon.
