Microsoft and Apple has always been neck-to-neck when it comes to software and product releases. Microsoft just released Surface Book i7 while Apple released MacBook Pro 2016. Which of these two is giving the best value for your money?

The Overall Design

MacBook Pro 2016 boasts a lighter body. It is thinner, slimmer and sturdier than the previous models. It also has a new Touch Bar that has additional features as well. As for the Surface i7, it hasn't change that much except the screen is now detachable transforming it into a fully functioning tablet. It also has a Touch feature. So if you want a more versatile laptop, Surface i7 is the best bet.

Display Resolution

There's a slight difference between Surface i7 and MacBook Pro when it comes to display. Macbook has a 13.4 inch screen while Surface i7 has 13.5 inch screen. Of course, if a user wants a bigger screen a 15-inch MacBook Pro is the way to go. As for the resolution, Surface i7 beats MacBook Pro with 3000x2000 display resolution. MacBook Pro only has 2560x1600 display resolution.

The Inside

MacBook Pro comes in two variants - one powered by Core i5 while the other one is powered by Core i7. Surface Book i7 only runs on Core i7. As for the graphics, Surface Book i7 wins again with Nvidia GTX 965m GPU. MacBook Pro runs on Integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540 GPU and Radeon Pro.

The Software And Battery Life

Each runs on their own signature OS. MacBook Pro uses MacOS Sierra while Surface Book i7 runs on Windows 10 OS. Surface Book i7 OS designed to optimized Touch displays. As for the battery life, Apple claims that MacBook Pro has a 10-hour battery life while Microsoft boast that Surface i7 has at least 12-16 hour battery life.
