Android developers from Google have officially announced the new features of Android 7.1 Nougat. The said features are also expected to run in Motorola, Samsung, Asus, LG and Huawei handsets but in an indefinite timeline. See details here!

Android 7.1 Nougat New Features

Google's Android developer team has recently announced the Developer Preview of Android 7.1 Nougat. According to Android Central, the latest Android Beta Program can be downloaded in Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C tablet but it is already running in Google Pixel phones out of the box.

Some of the newly added features that add excitement to Android 7.1 Nougat experience are the following: launcher shortcuts, refreshed round icons, Smart Storage for the storage manager, Google keyboard equipped with GIF support and newly added "restart" option in the power button menu. These features are downright available and can be enjoyed by Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C tablet owners.

While the full version is available in Google Pixel phones and Developer Preview for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel C tablet, Google announced that Android 7.1 Nougat updates is likely to roll out to other smartphones before the end of 2016, according to Android Authority.

In another report, the popular custom ROM developers have been reportedly working on the Android 7.1 Nougat CyanogenMOD version 14.1 Nightly Build for Moto, LG, Huawei, Samsung and Asus handsets in an indefinite timeline. Despite the risk that laid by this option, custom ROM developer community claims that users need not to worry on the installation because the firmware is bug-free and harmless to the devices.

The following are the selected devices eligible for the CyanogenMOD firmware: Huawei Nexus 6P, LG Nexus 5X, Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, LG G3, Moto G4 Plus, Moto G4, Moto G 3rd Gen, Moto G2, Moto G 4G, LG G4, Samsung Galaxy S5, OnePlus 3 and ASUS ZenFone 2.
