New York University is one of the most prestigious universities in the United States; thus, it is not surprising to find that some famous celebrities actually go there. Some of these celebrities did not finish their degrees, while some did. Here is a list of famous celebrities who actually went and earned their degree from NYU.

Matthew Gray Gubler
The "Criminal Minds" actor does not just rely on his good looks but his brains as well. He majored in film directing at Tisch School of Arts and graduated in 2002. Prior to that, he went to the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Visual and Performing Arts where he majored in acting.

Alec Baldwin
Although the actor started at George Washington University, he later transferred to New York University's Tisch School of Arts and graduated in 1994 with a degree in Bachelor's of Fine Arts.

James Franco
To say that James Franco has a passion for education is an understatement because he doesn't have only one but multiple degrees from prestigious universities. As one of the notable alumni of NYU, Franco simultaneously enrolled in Columbia University and Tisch School of Arts where he attended the MFA writing program at the former and earned a master's degree in filmmaking at the latter.

Billy Crystal and Billy Crudup
These two Billies do not just share the same name but the same alma mater as well. Crudup, who was known in films like "Big Fish" and "Sleepers" had an M.F.A at Tisch which he got in 1994. Crystal of the "Harry Met Sally" and "City Slickers" fame, got his BFA at Tisch as well in 1970.

Martin Scorsese
The "Gangs of New York" director is a full-blooded NYU alumni through and through. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in English at the NYU's College of Arts and Sciences in 1964. Two years later, he earned his MFA at the Tisch School of Arts, just one year after the school was launched.

Philip Seymour Hoffman
Philip Seymour Hoffman attended the Tisch School of Arts and graduated in 1989 with a degree in fine arts. The "Hunger Games" actor went to the same year as Suzanne Collins, who was also his co-star in the said film.

Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler may look like a buffoon in most of his movies but the actor has a fine arts degree at Tisch which he earned in 1988.

Andy Samberg
Andy Samberg is another testament that comedians and education actually are a good combination. Although he started at the University of California, Sta. Cruz, he transferred to Tisch two years after where he earned his B.F.A in 2000.

Cole and Dylan Sprouse
The "Suite Life of Zack & Cody" stars are bona fide graduates of NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where students have the freedom to plot their own curriculum. Both graduated in 2015 with Cole receiving a degree in archaeology while Dylan on video game design.

Aziz Ansari
While most of the actors in this list went to Tisch, Aziz Ansari is one of the few celebrities who went to NYU's Stern School of Business and a degree that is not related with arts. Ansari majored in marketing and got his degree in 2004. Ansari is a familiar face in "Parks and Recreation" and "Scrubs."
