The women's soccer team of Canada and Germany are the top two international teams in women's football that will go head-to-head in Tuesday's Rio 2016 Olympics semifinals.

Even though the rank of Germany in FIFA is eight places ahead of Canada, the North American soccer team will head into the game in Belo Horizonte with an elevated confidence. That's for a reason that these teams have already met at the Olympics, with Canada emerged a 2-1 win in the group stages.

With that, Germany might be focusing to the Canadian soccer forward Melissa Tancredi, who scored two goals in Canada's victory last week. And so far, Canada has won all four of their soccer games in the 2016 Rio Olympics, SB Nation reported.

However, as the first 20 minute soccer match between Canada and Germany are absolutely crucial, both teams will set the tone for the entire game. But, Canada must start the game as it means to continue with their confidence and disciplined team.

As the German team might be aiming to dominate from the outset, Canada, on the other hand, has to match that mindset from the very beginning. And the Canadian soccer goalkeeper - Stephanie Labbe, along with her defenders, must not allow the German team to push them back into a defensive shell.

In terms of offense and defense, the midfield battle will be the vital area for the matchup. Canada needs to restrain the Germans, make its tackles and then stop the passing lanes. Where Desiree Scott and Sophie Schmidt have a huge responsibility to protect the back four and frustrate the opponent, according to CBC.
