All-Alabama Academic Team Foundation Honors 2 Wallace Community College Students, Awards $1,000 Scholarship [VIDEO]

Caitlin Butler of Ariton and Christopher Anderson of Dothan were honored at a ceremonial banquet in Montgomery,alongside students coming from around Alabama community colleges. Both of the students received a $1,000 scholarship grant from the All-Alabama Academic Team Foundation.

According to Student Life Director Ryan Spry, who has spoken with WTVY, he has been with both students and knew that they are brilliant examples to fellow learners. The director could not even be prouder for Caitlin and Chris after being named to the All-Alabama Academic Team. These two student awardees are greatly involved on the campus, their communities and inside their classrooms. He is also glad for their accomplishments which are being recognized at state level. 

Butler graduated from Ariton High School and a member of the Lady Govs softball team. She is graduating in Spring 2016 with a 4.0 GPA. Recently, she was recognized as an Outstanding Student in General Chemistry and became a finalist for the WCCD President's Award 2015-2016. She considers attending the Auburn University for pre-veterinary animal science to become a veterinarian, WTVY reported.

Meanwhile, Anderson has a 3.9 GPA and will also graduate in Spring 2016. He has been awarded with a Chancellor's Scholarship to Troy University to pursue a bachelor's degree and finish masters in history. He wants to teach history at the post-secondary level, WTVY added.

Recently, he was recognized as an Outstanding Student in History and became the recipient of the 2015-2016 President's Award, the utmost individual award known at WCCD. Anderson partakes in the Leadership Development Program (Diplomats). He presides over the Rotaract Service Organization, Phi Theta Kappa's vice president of leadership and an active member of Sigma Kappa Delta English Honor Society, the report said.

The All-Alabama Academic team is a statewide academic recognition awarded to students who attends community college. Butler and Anderson were nominated by their professors and administrators.
