When Bo Pelini was introduced as the new head football coach at Youngstown State, he took a jab at his former boss, but that was nothing compared to what he said behind closed doors.

The Omaha World-Herald obtained and released an audiotape, complete with a full transcript, of Pelini insulting Nebraska athletic Shawn Eichorst with some harsh language. The tape is apparently from a closed-door meeting Pelini had with the Cornhuskers football team on Dec. 2, two days after he was fired.

After his job with Youngstown State was made official, Pelini publicly indicated that he did not feel like he had a president or athletic director who supported him at Nebraska. Pelini was unceremoniously fired after finishing 67-27 in seven seasons with the Cornhuskers, most likely because he never took the team beyond regular season success.

In the closed-door meeting on Dec. 2, Pelini called Eichorst a "p----," a "c---" and "f------ lawyer who makes policies."

Neither Eichorst nor Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman commented on the World-Herald's report, but the school released a statement indicating officials had read the transcript, but had not heard the tape.

"If these comments were, indeed, spoken by Mr. Pelini, we are extremely disappointed, but it only reaffirms the decision that he should no longer be a leader of young men at Nebraska. His habitual use of inappropriate language, and his personal and professional attacks on administrators, are antithetical to the values of our university," the statement reads. "His behavior is consistent with a pattern of unprofessional, disrespectful behavior directed by Mr. Pelini toward the passionate fans of Nebraska, employees of the university and, most concerning, our student-athletes. This behavior is not tolerated at the University of Nebraska and, among many other concerns, played a role in his dismissal."

Youngstown State has not commented publicly on the World-Herald report, as they just announced Pelini's hiring Wednesday. For Pelini, his new job allows him to work in the town he grew up in and in the backyard of Ohio State University, his alma mater.
