West Texas A&M University alumni Dyke and Terry Rogers have made a gift of $1 million to the LEAD WT program as the Dyke and Terry Rogers Leadership Education and Development Program.

WT President J. Patrick O'Brien said that the gift will help WTAMU grow into a leadership institution.

"West Texas A&M University is committed to embedding leadership and service into the fabric of the campus community," O'Brien said in a statement. "... Their generosity will enhance our ability to develop our students' leadership skills to help them become more active and effective servant leaders on our campus and in their communities."

The donation will be used towards the program's orientation and team-building activities; support student-led projects, invite prominent leadership experts on campus, and fund travel expenses for prominent conferences.

LEAD WT, a leadership certification program, was launched in 2012 to promote leadership qualities in university students. The Rogers Dyke LEAD WT program will be for the Center for Leadership and Service, a soon-to-be-established center dedicated to the development of students' leadership skills.

Dyke is a 1970 graduate of general business and economics while Terry holds a master's in education administration.

"We are so excited to be a part of this moment for WT," Dyke, a businessman, said. "...we are proud to have the opportunity to help students achieve everything they are capable of. "Our communities desperately need strong leaders to help guide us into the future. With this program and the university's commitment to leadership, we will help ensure a strong Panhandle, region and state for generations."
