With USC apparently favoring Cody Kessler for the starting quarterback job, Max Wittek is looking for another school and Texas seems to be his favorite.

"Multiple sources" told ESPN last weekend Wittek attended the University of Texas (UT) to watch the Longhorns' spring game. The visit was also the former Trojan's third to the UT campus since declaring his intention to transfer from USC.

The coming month promises to be hectic for Wittek, who will be weighing a school to transfer to while completing his degree at USC. He has two years of athletic eligibility and has also shown in interest in Hawaii and Louisville.

Still, UT is by far the most athletically prestigious of the three and has a fairly open QB competition. David Ash fractured his foot earlier in the month, leaving sophomore Tyrone Swoopes, converted tight end Miles Onyegblue, walk-on Trey Holtz and incoming freshman Jerrod Heard to compete for the position.

Unnamed sources had learned of Wittek's intention to transfer as early as Feb., according to ESPN, but his preferred destination has been unknown all along. The NCAA would allow Wittek to play right away since he will be graduating.

"I had talked to coach [Steve Sarkisian] a couple of times," Wittek previously told the Los Angeles Times. "What it really came down to was a feel for me... Getting my degree from such a great university will mean a lot, and ultimately, allowing me to play right away with two years to play was the best way to go."

Jeremy Fowler, of CBS Sports, reported Wittek is favoring Texas, citing the QB's Mater Dei high school coach Bruce Rollinson.

Mater Dei HS coach Bruce Rollinson said QB Max Wittek told him recently he's "leaning toward Texas" but hadn't made official decision yet.

It is unclear if he has visited Louisville, but Wittek was confirmed in early March to have attended a volleyball game in Hawaii when the school hosted UCLA. Still, the smart money seems to be on Texas.
