The holiday season is a time to celebrate with family and friends. But it brings a unique set of challenges for university students, specifically for ones miles away from home. You may feel stressed about studies, assignments, and exams, even if you travel to be with your loved ones. The seasonal blues worsen the situation because winter links with the seasonal affective disorder (SAD). But it is possible to maintain your sanity and have a happy festive season with your family or friends (if you are away from home). Here are some actionable coping strategies to help university students to deal with holiday season anxiety.

Begin with the basics

The basics of self-care are essential to staying healthy throughout the year, and holidays are no exception. Eating a balanced diet should be a top priority, though you can enjoy a cheat meal a few times during the festivities. Avoid excess indulgences in processed foods, sweets, caffeine, and alcohol. Stick with your fitness schedules and get adequate sleep to stay physically fit and mentally healthy.

Plan your day

Whether you travel home or stay in your student accommodation during the holidays, you must set aside time for your studies. Giving up altogether can push you behind in assignments and exam prep. The best way to stay on track is by planning your day. You need not give up on celebrations, but set aside a few hours for daily revisions. With regular revisions, you will feel far less anxious when the university reopens.

Unwind and de-stress

Holidays give you a much-needed break, so you must make the most of it. Find your favorite ways to unwind and de-stress. Watch movies, plan outings with friends and family, and pick your favorite activities. A session with THC in the evening sets you up for ultimate relaxation. You can try delta 8 cartridge this season because the cannabinoid is a gentler version of delta 9 THC. It will produce a mellow high, so you can have a good time without attracting unwanted attention.

Get some sunshine

Winter days can be bleak, but you must make the most of the sunshine when the sun is around. Natural light boosts your vitamin D levels naturally, promotes mental well-being, and nurtures a positive feeling. Step outdoors on sunny days, and plan physical activities like a long walk or a tennis session with your friend or sibling. A hefty dose of sunshine is all you need to keep the holiday blues at bay.

Create boundaries

Creating boundaries is a skill that university students should master. The festive season is the best time to practice the skill. Draw a line for party invitations, as you need not say yes to every single one coming your way. You can do positive things instead of attending parties, such as decluttering your dorm room, volunteering at a soup kitchen, and helping your mom at home. Know what you want to do instead of trying to please everyone.

While the festive season is about fun and enjoyment, university students may have a tough time dealing with the blues. These simple tips can help you deal with holiday anxiety and make the most of the happy season.
