AMD Vega is expected to be released this year. AMD has already made the big confirmation on the company's social media page. However, AMD Vega will be facing a tough challenge from rival Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti in the high-end gaming market.

The Sunnyvale-based tech company is expected to launch AMD Vega this coming June since the big tech event Computex will be held in that month. The AMD Vega will be the company's ultimate weapon of choice in its life and death struggle with Nvidia for supremacy in the highly lucrative GPU market. It's the company's first big attempt to touch the market that being ruled by Nvidia.

As for the upcoming AMD Vega, the upcoming AMD Vega is reportedly 5 percent slower than Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080. Additionally, the gaming chip also sees a 27 percent slower compared to its closest rival Nvidia GeForce 1080 TI. The claims are based on the recently released GPU database's relative performance chart by TechPowerUp.

AMD Vega is said being made for one big purpose: to take on Nvidia's GTX 1080 Ti in the hotly contested high-end gaming market. In fact, there are some reports claiming that the AMD Vega will be on par with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti's performance. Fortunately, AMD has one big edge in this upcoming face-off, that is the price. The AMD Vega GPU is said to be cheap just like its AMD Ryzen sibling, according to Tweak Town.

Meanwhile, there is unconfirmed AMD Vega benchmarks test that shows that Vega is much slower than Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 and Nvidia Titan XP. This has drawn lots of attention because the upcoming GPU is supposed to be the high-end GPU architecture that will challenge Nvidia.

Unfortunately, the past few leaks are showing mostly negative results that clearly shows something different about the upcoming GPU. AMD Vega is losing the technological arms race with rival Nvidia, the SegmentNext reported.

The latest news from the AMD Vega Benchmarks put the GPU's score at 5721, which said to be much lower than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 at 7152 points. On the other hand, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti managed to get a score of 9521 points, while the newly released Nvidia Titan XP get a score of 9595 points.
