Bad news for fans who wait for "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" and "Kingdom Hearts 3" as Square Enix will not launch the titles this year. However, there is still hope for a release in 2018.

Both Games are Reportedly Nowhere Near Complete

Fans expected FF7 Remake to have a 2017 release date but a recent statement from the team appears to hint at a long wait. Tetsuya Nomura said that the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is not the director's focus. With reasons like different developments and productions, some of the elements are 'untouched', Gamespot reported.

Moreover, "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" publisher lists the title as one of the upcoming releases but without further detail on the schedule. That said, fans are disappointed with the news since there is no indication that the video game will have a 2017 launch.

However, Square Enix being secretive to investors makes sense since the publisher does not want to reveal any detail on its popular titles development. As E3 2017 draws near, Square Enix could tease the fans with further detail on "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" and also "Kingdom Hearts 3" during the event, Critical Hit reported.

No Mention on 2017 Release Date

What even more disappointing is the document lists other titles for 2017-2018 release but "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is not featured in it and it falls under the 'FY 2018 and beyond' category. Fans quickly assumed that FF7 Remake will either be released sometime in 2018 or later.

Both massive hits are always linked to Square Enix and it is not a usual fashion for the popular RPGs not to have a sequel. Nonetheless, with scarce details, let's assume that there is still hope for "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" for early release in 2018. The good news is that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" will be coming to Nintendo Switch according to a source who is familiar of the matter.
