iPad Pro 2 and Surface Pro 5 are the two premium tablets expected to show up this year. There are a few reports that seemingly suggest that Microsoft could win the competition.

iPad Pro 2 Specs, Features, Update

Apple will reportedly launch the iPad Pro 2 lineups at WWDC. While this is a pure speculation, more evidence are corroborating the claims. According to reputable leakster, Ming Chi Kuo, Apple will release a 10.5-inch unit and 12.9-inch tablet this year with much-revamped innards. While the KGI analyst did not mention any mini tablet upgrade, rumors are pointing at the new variant, iPad Mini Pro, that will debut alongside the other two.

Surface Pro 5 Specs, Features, Update

Microsoft is planning to release the hybrid device iteration this year and it is revealed that the Surface Pro 5 will come with a rechargeable stylus. The Surface Pen in particular, will reportedly be getting triple A cell.

Specs-wise, the Surface Pro 5 will be powered by Intel Kaby Lake chip with revamped design making it more elegant than its predecessor. The 2-in-1 device might have a similar configuration as the Surface Pro 4 - a 16GB RAM and a massive 1TB storage. Microsoft could be throwing in the USB type C port but a recent leak suggests that the Surface Pro 5 could still retain the Smart Connector instead, MSPowerUser reported.

iPad Pro 2 Vs. Surface Pro 5

The upcoming iPad Pro 2 is pitted against the Surface Pro 5 due to the hybrid features that both contain. There are a few differentiating factors such as the processor in tow and the capabilities but as hybrid tablets, the flagships are getting the premium treatment from the makers. Furthermore, Microsoft is rumored to launch a new product category, a low-cost Surface device - that will be pitted against Lenovo, and the current budget iPad 2017, CNET reported.

It will be hard to decide which tablet will win but as far as the price is concerned, the Surface Pro comes with a stylus as a bundle instead of being sold separately. On the other hand, Apple faithfuls might have to spend a few extra dollars for a Keyboard and a Pencil.
