The reports have strongly hinted at iMac release in Q3 2017. Apple is said to work on two iMac 2017 versions. One being a premium desktop whilst the other aims at higher-end market.

iMac 2017 to be Launched in Two Models

Apple is said to launch two desktops this year, the iMac and Mac Pro. The news initially came from an Asian publication that suggests sometime in the second half of 2017 as the release date. It has been reported that the iMac will enter mass production in May.

Furthering the detail, it is believed that Quanta Computer will be manufacturing the two desktop models. The regular iMac 2017 is expected to be an iterative upgrade of its predecessor whilst the premium iMac Pro will aim at a higher-end market.

This is not baseless information since a few media outlets obtained the report from Apple's supply chain in Taiwan, via DigiTimes, which often provides correct predictions. Specs-wise, the iMac 2017 variant will reportedly get a few cutting-edge features such as VR capability and Thunderbolt 3 support. The 21.5-inch and 27-inch models will debut in Q3 2017 and likely to be available during Christmas, Hot Hardware reported.

The premium desktop, the iMac Pro, is rumored to feature Intel's powerful chip, Xeon E3 1285 with up to 64GB RAM configuration. Apple is said to enhance the iMac 2017 with 8K display and develop a new keyboard that will heighten user experience, BGR reported.

Not just a conventional keyboard, Apple is reportedly bringing MacBook Pro's Touch Bar to iMac's keyboard. However, it is worth to note that Apple will not release any touchscreen iMac as Phill Schiller has aptly said that it is not even part of the users' 'list of interests'. According to the Apple executive, consumers demand power and performance more than a touchscreen support.
