Google Pixel 2 will see the light of day this year and the company is reportedly preparing a VR-ready smartphone with a whopping 6GB RAM and a Snapdragon 835 system on a chip. In addition to that, Google will also equip the next-gen Pixel with bezel-less display.

Google Pixel 2: The Story So Far

In the second half of 2017, there will be a tough competition in the smartphone industry. Apple is launching the new, all-screen iPhone 8 and Google is also gearing up for Pixel 2 release. The iterative upgrade is inevitable but Google might have something new in store for the Pixel fans.

Specs bump is going to let Google Pixel 2 to house some of the powerful innards. It will contain Snapdragon 835 chipset and a RAM as big as 6GB. As a high-end flagship, the next gen Pixel will still be a camera-focused device. Like the current Pixel, it will get software tweaks and revamped camera.

It is obvious that the Google Pixel 2 will be VR-ready as Google is preparing a new Daydream in 2017. The handset will also be packing more pixels on the display for a more vibrant color reproduction. It is reported that the phone will use front-facing speakers to enhance the audio experience.

The latest Android OS is currently on beta testing and by the time Google Pixel 2 launch, it will come pre-installed in the phone. The camera is particularly interesting to discuss as most high-end flagships are now shifting to dual lens approach. The Pixel camera is already the best in town according to DxOMark. It is touted as the best that not even the iPhone 7 can surpass the score, Techaeris reported.

That said, the Google Pixel 2 will definitely offer better camera quality. If that is not intimidating enough, the latest concept video renders all of the possible specs and put them into a masterpiece design that features ultra-thin bezels and rounded edges, Android Authority reported.

Google Pixel 2 will not cost cheap. Rick Osterloh has confirmed the successor on work and it will be a premium device made by Google. That said, an affordable Pixel 2 would be very much appreciated by the fans, if Google does retire the Nexus brand.
