Consumers are often found empty-handed when trying to look for Nintendo NES Classic Edition from brick and mortar stores this is because of the announcement made by Nintendo last Thursday regarding its discontinuation. However, reports suggest that the NES Classic Edition is reportedly coming back in the future as a new gen console.

Xbox Scorpio, PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro) and Nintendo Switch are among the new gen consoles of 2017 that everyone is drooling to buy. For this reason, speculations suggest that the discontinued NES Classic Edition will be revitalized as a new gen console sometime in the future.

While the report appears to be non-supported by any official statements from Nintendo, the console's status remains uncertain. But for now, Nintendo NES Classic Edition has remained to be a hot commodity among consumers where two units are being sold per minute on eBay, Polygon reported.

This is despite the fact that the recent price of NES Classic Edition is almost six times the suggested retail price of $60 (almost at a part with today's new gen consoles). In fact, the third-party auction site even sells the console at the price of $332 and said that consumers are more than willing to splurge extra cash just to get the console.

Meanwhile, eBay and other online resellers are the only hope of the consumers who wanted to have the Nintendo NES Classic Edition. On the other hand, while the Japanese console-maker remains tight-lipped about the discontinuation, fans presume that it has something to do with the recently released Nintendo Switch.

Stock problems continue to pester Nintendo Switch since its official release date. While the supply shortage is still controllable in the United Kingdom, the situation in the United States speaks otherwise; thus, NES Classic Edition discontinued to focus on the production of Switch.

Nintendo Switch is now reportedly available at GameStop that comes with a new bundle which includes the NS console with Gray Joy-Con (or Neon), SanDisk Ultra 128GB microSD card with adapter, "Mario Kart 8" Deluxe (Physical Game), "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" (Physical Game) and Expansion Pass (Digital Download), Express reported.
