NVIDIA's fear for AMD Radeon Vega seems to have never subsided because aside from the recently released Titan Xp, the world's GPU chips-maker is reportedly launching Volta-based GPUs in the third quarter of 2017, the new architecture. These new GPUs are expected to be the next-gen GeForce GTX 2080 series which was originally planned to be released in 2018.

Poor market conditions are reportedly the main reason why NVIDIA decided to release the next-gen GPUs based on Volta architecture. Aside from the fact that hardware sales decline and price war have eaten its margin for the first quarter of 2017, the upcoming AMD Radeon Vega GPU is also said to be a factor on the company's revision of plans, Game Debate reported.

The Volta-based GPUs mentioned above are said to be the next-gen GeForce GTX 2080 which are categorized as flagship graphic cards. While the lower-end GTX 2080 are expected to hit the store shelves in the third quarter of 2017, the Ti counterparts are said to blast in the early months of 2018.

NVIDIA's marketing plan and market positioning for Volta-based GPUs has reportedly changed. Since the release will be earlier than planned, the company is expected to associate the next-gen GPUs into higher prices for single cards for more profit, Tweak Town reported.

On the other hand, the release of Volta-based GPUs could also hamper the release a Pascal-based GPU that is supposed to complete the lineup. However, the absence of clamor suggests that no GeForce GTX 1030 will be released this year.

To sum it all, the public is expected to see the following in 2017: GTX 2070 with 11GB of GDDR5X with 12Gbps clockspeed, GTX 2080 with 11GB of GDDR5X with 14Gbps clockspeed, Titan Xv with 16GB of HBM2 with 16Gbpx clockspeed. On the other hand, the following are also expected to be released in 2018: GTX 2080 Ti with 16GB of HBM2 with 16Gbps clockspeed and GTX 2070 Ti with 11GB of GDDR5X featuring new speeds which will start at 16Gbps.
