The porn industry and college meet (for real, not for fantasy) next week at the University of Chicago during its second annual sex week. Students will have the opportunity to participate in approximately 40 sex-based workshops and even meet one industry star, Campus Reform reported.

For those of you in the area but not part of the university, note that enrollment is FREE, OPEN to the public, and FOOD will be provided. The school encourages active participation (questions, note-taking, etc.), responsibility, and an open mind, according to the university's website. Make sure to register beforehand!

Events range from the extreme (workshops on bondage, rope-tying, oral sex, and safe electrocution) to the thought-provoking (this is the University of Chicago, one of the top ten best colleges in the United States), including the very first presentation, "Sex and the Soul: Putting Meaning Back Into Intimacy For the Hookup Generation," a lecture from author and sexuality scholar Donna Freitas.

Based on a quick perusal of the schedule and its events, here's my top five you can't miss (the full schedule here):

Lascivious Ball, Friday Feb. 7, 9:00 pm, Ida Noyes: The ball is the week's second event, perhaps a strategic move by the college so that students aren't so quick to try out their newfound knowledge. This one actually costs some money, but only $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Obviously, no shirts or shoes are necessary. Also includes DJ, fashion show, and finger foods, to name a few. Unclear if alcoholic drinks will be served.

Jessica Drake: From Porn to Sex Ed, Saturday, Feb. 8, 4:00 pm, Logan 801: I once read a fascinating GQ article following the lives of several porn starts. If Drake's story is as interesting as theirs, this presentation should be attended with high anticipation. (You should also get an autograph; I think porn star signatures are worth some money -- probably more than athletes' these days).

Dirty Talking, Etc., Monday Feb. 10, 7:00 pm, Harper 130: For people joining Sex Week for its levity and not necessarily for its gravity, "Dirty Talking" could be a fun word game with a couple of friends and some random strangers. Just watch out for that Etc.!

Sex on the Big Screen: With Peer Health Advocates, Wednesday Feb. 12, 6:00 pm, Stuart 102: Another less serious laugher. Watch a montage of famous and funny sex scenes from the annals of Hollywood.

Circus Acrobatics, Friday Feb. 14, 4:30 pm, Logan 801: I'll let the event description speak for itself, "Come one, come all to the circus! We'll be learning partner acrobatics, where you'll be getting physical with your partner!"
