Google Pixel is reportedly getting some major iteration, something new and radical. This week, a fresh news from South Korea has just sparked the possibility of seeing Google Pixel 2 with flexible OLED display panels that have curved edges. The Mountain View-based company is said to keen on pursuing the reported new radical design.

The fresh news came from the South Korean news outlet Yonhap News Agency, which has made a great job of following the Google Pixel 2 story. The Mountain View-based company has reportedly offered a huge amount of money to help LG Display ram up their OLED display production and eventually, to secure a steady supply of the flexible OLED display panels for the next series of Pixel smartphones. Reports said that estimated amount of money involves could run as high as 1 trillion Korean Won or more than $880 million, the Forbes reported

However, there still some possibility for the investment to go higher, especially when the two companies start working on a deal. Currently, LG Display has not yet accepted the offer but the South Korean company is said to be keen on the planned investment by the tech giant. Both companies are expected to make some announcements in the next couple of days.

Rick Osterloh, Google's hardware chief, has already confirmed at the recent Mobile World Congress the planned works on the next series of Google Pixel phones, so the news about the new Google Pixel 2 has not come as big surprise anymore. The hardware chief also reiterated that the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 were on track to hit the mobile market this year. He also added that the next series of Pixel smartphones would continue to cater to the premium segment.

As for the smartphone's specs and features, the phone is expected to sport a 16-megapixel main camera, 8MP front shooting camera, and even support for virtual reality tech. In addition to the cameras and support for virtual reality tech, reports also claim that the new Google Pixel 2 will be powered by Snapdragon 835 mobile processor, the same chipset that powers Samsung's latest Galaxy S8 lines. At this time, not much information is known about the upcoming hardware.

Finally, Taiwan-based HTC is reportedly being tapped by Google to manufacture the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 smartphones. The hardware giant had won a two-year contract from the American tech giant to build the next series of Google Pixel smartphones, the Digitimes reported.
