Nintendo will discontinue Nintendo NES Classic production but there is still time to grab the last few units of the console. A few retailers reportedly still have the device in stock.

The official Nintendo has announced that the company will stop manufacturing Nintendo NES Classic Edition. The retro console will no longer be available for purchase as there will not be any restocked. The fans are shocked with the news and it is an unusual fashion to stop producing what has become a blockbuster.

However, for classic gamers, they still have the chance to grab the last batch in a few retailers. Nintendo advised consumers to check with the nearest outlets for the console availability. The unit shortage has caused the price to increase. In Amazon, for instance, the $60 Nintendo NES Classic is sold at $189. Other sellers have even upped the price almost three times high.

Best Buy stock a fresh batch of Nintendo NES Classic the last week but it is now sold out. The same thing happens to Newegg that still listed the console for $199.99 but apparently it is out of stock. The current update suggests that eBay is the only marketplace to have the console from second-hand, NowInStock reported.

Why Nintendo Stops Producing NES Classic?

Reputable media outlets have come to believe that Nintendo killed its best-selling console because the popularity is worrying for Nintendo Switch. It is plausible that the company wants the latest hybrid console to become a hit. However, Nintendo rep denied the rumor by saying that Nintendo NES Classic Edition was never meant as an ongoing product albeit the company admitted adding shipments due to the high demand, TIME reported.

Nintendo's statement confirmed the end of production for North America and April is the last shipment. Whether or not the Nintendo NES Classic Edition will relive in 2018, that is anyone guesses.
