AMD announced four AMD Ryzen 5 chips for the mainstream market. All of the specs have been put to the table and it is time to justify the performance. It seems to be an obvious move made by AMD when it first introduced Ryzen 7 last month. The processor numbering looks exactly the same with Intel Core i models. Judging from the benchmark scores and the latest unveilings, the chipmaker is making the competition more serious this time.

AMD Revealed Four Ryzen 5 Chips

The recent unveiling of AMD Ryzen 5 has brought joy to budget PC gamers who have waited for so long to upgrade their computing machine. The Zen architecture somehow, makes it possible to do a revamp without too much cost.

The four chips are 1600X, 1600, 1500X and 1400. The X series are distinguished by the higher base clock and clock speed. The benchmark test also revealed that AMD Ryzen 5 1600X is 65 percent faster than Intel Core i5 7600K. What is even better, is that both chips are sold at $249,  ZDnet reported.

AMD's processor chips launch has arguably beaten down Intel but more reviews are expected to pop out online sooner or later. That should give another cue of AMD Ryzen 5 performance when compared to Intel Core i5 variants.

As the new player in town, the chip is found to be 'almost equivalent' to Core i7 in a few tests although the 1500X is a step behind the premium i7-7700K due to the higher clock speed. However, with a $60 cheaper pricetag, it becomes an appealing product for consumers when it is not even AMD's top-tier processor, PCGamer reported.

A Cheaper CPU Alternative

The takeaway here, is that AMD Ryzen 5 is a capable CPU for gaming as the company has admitted the wins in a few areas in comparison to Intel offerings. The Zen architecture will bring a breath of fresh air for those who want to opt for a powerful CPU at less expensive price.
