Redmi Note 3 was once the best-selling smartphone until its successor came out. Xiaomi decided to differentiate the offerings on both flagships but there are a few reasons why Redmi Note 3 is still the best.

The Redmi Note 4 has earned all of the attention that the company decided to use a pre-order system to cater all of the demands after the first batch was sold out, XDA Developers reported. 

Should you upgrade to Redmi Note 4?

When upgrading from Redmi Note 3 to Note 4, users will bring home a heavier phone with the same display. In fact, the 5.5-inch on Note 3 has a higher pixel density. The older sibling runs Android Lollipop but Marshmallow has made its way to Note 3 whilst the OS comes pre-installed in Note 4.

Redmi Note 3 packs 16 MP rear shooter and 5 MP selfie shooter. Xiaomi goes out of fashion by equipping the flagship successor with 13 MP sensor for Redmi Note 4's rear camera. However, there seems to be a refinement on the optics since the Note 4 takes better selfies than Note 3.

Redmi Note 4 gets a slight boost in the battery, sporting 4100 mAh. It is apparent that the device is only 50 mAh bigger than the capacity in Redmi Note 3. Another selling point of Redmi Note 3 is the Snapdragon 650 chipset powering the handset. On the other hand, the flagship successor does not get an equivalent or better processor. Instead, Xiaomi goes with Snapdragon 625 and MediaTek SoC.

Design-wise, Redmi Note 4 is a sturdy phone that looks elegant. Redmi Note 3 is as good as its successor. However, taking a close look will enable users to tell the difference - it is the curved edges in Redmi Note 3. There is also a noticeable different on the color temperature as Redmi Note 4 has warmer hues than Redmi Note 3, Android Central reported.

The upgrades are insignificant thus, for those who plan to buy a new Redmi Note device - the fourth-gen would be a great buy. However, if the Redmi Note 3 is already in hand, then it may not be worth to upgrade.
