Nexus 6P has been making headlines for the past few weeks as Android 8 developer preview has been rolled out to the device. While this is a good indication that Google does not neglect the Nexus variants, it is also a good sign that the brand will still be around.

Pixel 2 is coming soon

Nexus fans are worried that when the Pixel successor debuts, Google will stop bringing support for the Nexus devices. However, the Pixel 2 phones will be the premium handsets that arguably have a different market from Nexus.

Google could be aiming at top-end users with its Pixel 2 whilst budget-concern smartphone seekers can still rely on the Nexus lineup for a Stock Android experience.

Pixel 2B is reportedly on the work

Reports have indicated that Google is working on a budget device, allegedly called Pixel 2B with the codename Taimen. Rumor has it that Google will use its own chipset to differentiate the offering. Experts quickly assumed that the budget device could be a new Nexus phone in the making.

The latest update enables Nexus 6P users to experience the pure Android Nougat. Fans seem to be skeptical whether Google will still care for the Nexus brand or not, but the latest update that has changed the interface and fixed bugs - are the evidence that the company still supports the device.

Google rolls out Android O preview to Nexus 6P device

While Google is distancing the update from older Nexus phones (Nexus 9 and Nexus 6), the tech giant is currently rolling out Android 8 developer preview to Nexus 6P. Even when Nexus 6 and 9 will no longer receiving any software update, they will still receive security patch regularly, Slashgear reported.

A few changes seen include new setting menu and a sleeker appearance. The handset has a new battery page - it now gets a new interface and Sleep menu, and there will be more to come as Google finalizes the implementation, PC-Tablet reported.
