Apple could use the ARM-based chip to power its future laptop and desktop variants. Although the 2017 MacBook Pro will not be using an ARM-based chip but the company indicates that there is still a possibility for the next-gen laptop to contain the processor.

Phil Schiller was having an interview with the journalists the other day and answered an important question from one of the attendant. The marketing executive said that Apple has no plan to launch a MacBook Pro with ARM processor as of this moment, Axios reported.

Schiller also apologized for the lack of an upgrade in MacBook Pro but promised that great thing will come out soon. However, he dismissed the speculation of having a touchscreen on the laptop flagship or on iMac - stating that it would be an absurd idea. Regardless of the confirmation, Apple indeed tested a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen once but apparently ditched the idea as the company felt it was not a good strategy. 

Meanwhile, Apple previously announced that it no longer licenses the GPU technology to Imagination. Two years from now, Apple will have a brand new GPU design - either from another supplier or making its very own architecture.

It is safe to assume that Apple is indeed considering an ARM-based chip for its future MacBook and iMac. The company might be looking further to increase the benefits of each device with better stability on the hardware and software.

An ARM-based chip could offer the power inside a thinner device. The current GPU from ARM, Mali is the most used chip in the world and many of this year's mobile VR will be using it,  Road to VR reported.

Apple does not detail further of its roadmap and there is no single leak surfaces on the internet about its upcoming notebook and desktop computer. Do you think Apple will use an ARM-based chip to power its future MacBook Pro and iMac?
