Google is expected to launch the Nexus 7 2017 and so far the leaks have pointed at a set of monstrous specifications. It is reported that the upcoming device will rock the latest Android Nougat version alongside a few enticing hardware.

Google remains mum on the Nexus 7 successor but reports have managed to dig deeper on the leaks and tips that have been circulating through the web this past few months.

It was Forbes that speculated 'Taimen' as the codename for Google's upcoming massive tablet. The media outlet said that Taimen signifies a huge fish, up to 110 kg in weight. And tech experts have come to believe that the codename is intended for Nexus 7 tablet. With all of that being said, the impending Nexus 7 2017 could be a huge thing, either in the hardware, size, or both.

In addition to that, the Nexus 7 2017 will not settle with a 2GB RAM. Instead, Google could up the memory to 4 gigs. Previously, Pixel C gets retouched with the new update and it has brought Pixel-like experience to the old device, Greenbot reported.

It can be argued that when the Nexus 7 tablet comes out, Google might be equipping the device with the navigation button and launcher similar to the flagship phone.

The Snapdragon 835 has built hype for months since its introduction. It somehow becomes a key feature that a 2017 device should carry. With the Nexus 7 2017 getting at least 4GB RAM in tow and 64 GB inbuilt storage the least - Qualcomm's latest mobile chip fits the role to power the monster tablet.

As far as the dimension is concerned, Google could consider a bigger tablet than a 7-inch. To put into perspective, Apple opts for 10.5-inch iPad Pro while the smallest unit sports 9.7-inch display but both will reportedly have the same size.

The new iPad 2017 has also the same dimension as the iPad Air 2 Hence, there is no reason for Google not to go with super thin bezels and a slightly larger screen-to-body ratio.

Which company will manufacture the next Nexus 7?

The current Google Pixel is manufactured by HTC and it has reportedly signed a deal to make the next-gen Pixel phones as well. However, the 2-year contract could mean a chance for other OEMs like LG which had quite a long term partnership with Google - manufacturing the Nexus 4 and 5 series, Valuewalk reported.
