The wait is not over yet. The revolutionary Galaxy X launch is apparently pushed to a few more years as Samsung Display 'unofficially' confirmed that the foldable technology will not materialize at least until 2019.

Samsung Display's engineer Kim Tae-woong drops a major hint that suggests the company might wait until the bezel-less smartphone trend fades before launching a revolutionary folding device, the Galaxy X.

Single-foldable and multi-foldable phones

There are technical challenges that Samsung needs to face before a single-foldable device is launched. Once it is proven succeed, the South Korean giant will release a multi-foldable phone, according to BGR.

Kim's statement does not corroborate with Bloomberg's previous report which claimed Samsung would launch two Galaxy X models in 2017. A few more sources had almost come to believe that the folding phone would make an appearance at IFA this September.

This is not all baseless as Samsung was rumored to showcase the foldable prototype at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year. A few reports even hinted Project Valley as the Galaxy X codename.

With a statement coming from an internal source - this should put an end to all of the unauthorized stories and rumors as the phone maker is currently focusing on OLED display technology and edgeless phone design before introducing a fully flexible smartphone, GSM Arena reported.

As far as the trend is concerned, the bezel-less design seems to be a golden standard for today's flagship phone. Samsung Display reportedly earns 20 percent of the profits by supplying the bezel-less OLED panels.

AMOLED display will also equip the Galaxy X but details on its specs are still scarce at the moment. It looks like the 2017 will see a fierce battle between Apple iPhone 8 and Galaxy Note 8 as Samsung saves the best for last.
