US tech giant AMD is preparing another big salvo for this year. The company is reportedly working on two major products, the first one is the upcoming AMD Ryzen 5 1400 and the other one is a new mobile processor. AMD's latest effort reiterates the company's strong commitment to the gaming world and mobile market.

The Sunnyvale-based AMD has recently teased the upcoming Ryzen 5 1400 desktop processors, showing to the tech world the powerful Zen architecture. In the Youtube teaser video, the company has demonstrated the big different between the three leading processors, the AMD Ryzen 5 1400, Intel i5 7400 and the cheap Kaby Lake dual-core Intel Pentium G4560.

The upcoming AMD Ryzen 5 1400 has been put up against two major Intel CPUs, the quad-core Core i5-7400, and the dual-core Pentium G4560, in a test. Both Intel processors have no SMT. The upcoming AMD processor has been overclocked to 3.8 GHz and has been brought closer to the boost clock range of its fierce rival Intel Core i5-7400, the Videocardz reported.

As for the specs, the new AMD Ryzen 5 processors will be featuring the powerful Zen architecture in 6-core, 12-thread, and 4-core, 8-thread options. The new chip is expected to deliver enhanced desktop performance, immersive experiences to gamers and game streamers. Additionally, reports also said that the new AMD CPU will feature the new AMD SenseMI technology along with multitasking capabilities.

In addition to the AMD SenseMI tech, the new AMD Ryzen 5 will also include a new AMD thermal solutions, which include the Wraith Spire and the Wraith Stealth. Both AMD cooling system are designed to provide near-silent operation, featuring unique styling and superb cooling on board. As for the availability and release date, AMD will start offering the new AMD Ryzen 5 processors on April 11, according to an AMD press release.

In other AMD-related news, AMD is reportedly working on a low-power mobile processor that gears toward tablets and smartphones. The Sunnyvale-based company has decided to settle on the name K6 to capture the company's dedication to low power and high-efficiency performance.

The new AMD K6 APUs is expected to arrive on the market by mid-2018 on 14nm technology. Meanwhile, AMD is still busy dealing with the press on which foundry it prefers to use for its products. For this, AMD currently has two big options left on the table, Samsung and Global Foundries, the Extremetech reported.
